TALENT PROMOTION COMMITEE FOR HIGHER LEARNING INSTITUTIONS IN TANZANIA.

The organizing committee of Talent Promotion has one of its principle tasks the objectives of promoting talents among students in institutions of higher learning in Tanzania.

The Committee is under the Patronship of the Minister for Science Technology and Higher Education Hon. Dr. Pius Ng’wandu (MP) and Ms. R. Nchimbi Lecturer from History Department (UDSM) as a Matron.

The Chairperson of this committee is Mr. Amani Kakana (MA-Information Studies) at The University of Dar es Salaam and John Kafuku (B.Sc. Engineering) is the Secretary General.

PLANS FOR THE FUTURE:

The Organizing Committee based at the University of Dar Es Salaam, has a national and international status as it has been Organizing Mr. And Miss University in Tanzania and last year it managed to come out with Mr. University World for the year 2001/2002, who is a Tanzanian, Nyirenda Masozi now a graduate from the University of Dar Es Salaam. Still it is the seat of the National Talent Promotion Committee which managed to call for the National Consultative Workshop on Talent identification and utilization, the youth had an opportunity for exhibiting their talents during the event.

The Committee is in the process of organizing The East Africa Higher Learning Talent Week to be held in between July and August 2002.

PARTICIPATION

Participants will be students from both State or Government and Privately owned higher learning Institutions in East Africa.

ACTIVITIES AND CONDUCT DURING THE TALENT WEEK

The Talent Week expects to last for five days, in which a variety of activities will be done, including sessions of topic presentation and discussions.

Participants will get chance to tour various places of geographical and historical importance, apart from that there will be entertainment’s during the opening and closing ceremonies in which guest of honor and other distinguished guests will be invited.
